Do your eyes have light?
We are The Named, cats with light in their eyes. We can think, we can talk, unlike those Un-Named monsters. We herd our beasts for food, and we have tamed the rage and hunger of The Red Tongue by worship so that we may bask in its warm glow, and use it to fend off enemies.
Life isn't easy. It has never been easy, nor will it ever be easy. Herdbeasts become ill-tempered, cubs are born with no light, and age takes us all. Drought makes food scarce, as rain drowns our fire so that it cannot blaze to face attackers. Bristlemanes yowl in the night, their fierce eyes glowing, and the Un-Named raid our herds, killing the animals that would serve to be meat for our bellies.
But we press on, we survive, but only by living by the
LAW OF THE
RED TONGUE
can we hope to.
